Each mandolin is handcrafted and unique. There are always a number of options available that
create the possibility of customized pricing, but typically each mandolin features:
- Hand-carved top and back plates, with an integrated tuning system using traditional approaches that maximize tonal depth and volume.
- Carefully chosen, seasoned tone woods in Sitka, Englemenn or Red Spruce and figured maple from my homeland forests of New England.
- Book matched, three piece figured maple neck with truss rod for maximum stability and reinforcement
- Schaller tuners
- Hand applied dyes, enhancing wood grains and creating a subtle sunburst effect, with nitrocellulose, low-gloss lacquer finish
- Hand cut Mother of Pearl inlays
- On all F-5 models, hand crafted adjustable ebony bridges fashioned after the early Gibson's with small thumbwheels and Loar style compensated top
- Custom crafted sterling silver tailpiece covers with Pomeroy emblem cast in silver by jeweler James Steele
- On all F-5 models, nut width of 1 1/8" with a 10" radiused ebony fingerboard. All F-5's also feature ivoroid bound back, top, fingerboard and peg head unless otherwise requested
- All mandolins are signed and numbered by the builder, Don Paine

"Everything is cool with the delivery, no problem. Arrived safe and sound. She (the mando) got a good work out tonight. About 4 hours of playing time. Our guitar player gave it great compliments. The highs remind him of ice crystals in a new fallen snow (which are his exact words). Great chop and bark as well. It has a nice balance across the strings. Also, the strings have a loose feeling which I think is great. Workmanship is flawless and would recommend your instruments to anyone.
